Summer Student

Daunais McKay + Harms is one of the leading boutique family law offices in Calgary and is currently looking for an exceptional and talented summer student to join us for summer 2020. Our current team of 15 lawyers pride themselves on providing exemplary high-quality legal service to clients in all areas of family law.

We believe that providing students with real world legal experiences and responsibility is the best way for students and young lawyers to learn – as such we place an emphasis on ensuring that students have the opportunity to work with and be mentored by senior legal counsel while also having ‘hands on’ learning experiences.
From the time our student first joins us they will find themselves meeting with clients, drafting pleadings and legal documents, conducting research, and sitting in on mediations, arbitrations and court proceedings. Within the family law sphere, we encourage students to pursue work in the areas in which they are most interested and offer exposure during the summer to cohabitation and prenuptial agreements, parenting and support matters, common law and marriage based separations, property division and family law appellate work.
We place an emphasis on providing ongoing formal and informal mentorship and are committed to supporting our students as they grow their knowledge and expertise in family law matters.

In selecting a summer student our objective is to identify the candidate who we believe will be the best fit for a long term career with our office. We are looking for students who not only have a demonstrated interest in family law and are academically successful, but also demonstrate characteristics such as loyalty, hard work, collegiality, professionalism and involvement in their local community.
